The new United Business Class Sleeper Seat

I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to business class to Frankfurt and, as a result, tested out the new flat bed business sleeper. First, it is about time United caught up with the other airlines. On a long haul flight a sleeper seat makes all the difference.

The good
  • Flat seat
  • Huge TV screen with on demand movies, music, TV, games, etc.
  • Plugs galore: Standard power, USB power, iPod plug (you can run the ipod through the media system)
The Bad
  • No storage at all. There is really no where to even put a book in the seat itself. So forget it if you have a computer, etc. You need to actually get up and put it away
  • The seat is a bit narrow. Worked great for me, but the average American probably feels a bit snug in the seat.
The best seat in business class 747 is upstairs (quieter, better service) and next to the window. The window seat has access to the cubbies for storage. All other seats, including downstairs, have no easily accessible storage.
