Finally Baked has opened replacing La Petite Patisserie which had some amazing baked goods (although a bit pricey). Baked offers a wider, more traditional selection of pastries, desserts and cakes than La P.P. had although not as gourmet. I tried the sticky bun and the peach muffin (had a fat day yesterday) and liked the peach muffin, not that keen on the sticky bun(Patisserie Philippe on Townsend is much better). Both had a lot of sugar and my critique on the sticky bun was that the topping is supposed to be carmelized; mine was just sugary and the sugar hard not gooey. The muffin was near perfect with a nice crumbly top, lots of big chunks of peach and a not too moist not too dry center. Total cost for both was only $4 which wasn't even the price of one pastry at the former La P.P. so I think Baked will do better than La P.P. because they will sell a lot more volume. I don't know that I would make a special calorie allotment to make a weekly trip to Baked like I did with La P.P. but it is a great stop if you need to bring muffins or a cake into the office.
